THE MIDI

St Lenny's Tee, Glassons Midi Skirt, Girl Express Boots, Miss Shop Clutch, Topshop lipstick in Brighton Rock

My judgement recently changed on the topic of midi skirts, because let's fact it - for a girl of 5'2", midi skirts might as well drown you like floor length gowns and regular jeans. But with a bit of folding and watching the recent sunbeamsjess outfit videos, I've totally been won over and now love the silhouette of this skirt - so much so that I may regard it as a staple.

For my first day back at uni, I wanted to kick back into the whole 'FARSHUN' mindset in a comfortable and remotely 'stylish' way. I practically live in black ankle boots, so these Chloe wannabes were too tempting not to buy - they have only fuelled my urge to have a pair of Susanna's even more. This old men's tee found in a Dangerfield store a few years ago, is my go-to comfort antidote to a day where I feel a little grunge-y in the mornings. And to balance it out, I only needed a dash of bright pink - on the lips and on the bag on my hips.

Sportsgirl tee, Cotton On jeans, Kmart harness boots (these are absolute gems, found them off another blogger's recommendations), Sportsgirl necklace, Rimmel nail polish and Ikea sheets

A choppy outfit post and a quick update today! I have been in quite a blissful state lately - thanks to the beginning of a wonderful holiday that is Semester Break - changing my room around, shopping, sighing, glueing myself to the hip with all things laptop-related (Sims 3, we need to talk).

One thing that has caught my eye has been Paisley, where I'm dipping a toe (or maybe a foot) into a Bohemian feel for a little while. I feel like I've taken up this pattern liking due to all those Northern Hemisphere-ians celebrating Summer, and here I am bundled up in layers preparing for a chilly Winter in the negatives, flipping through yet another incredible Free People lookbook that makes me want to jet to California ASAP. Exciting things to come in the next couple of days!

Phew! First semester is finally over, and it was one hell of a ride. Think of what you would expect from a Styling course, and think again. Looking back, my skills in almost everything design related have levelled up. From figuring out Adobe Illustrator, sitting in my first Life Drawing class, feeling the pinch from printing out what seems like endless A3 portfolios, working with 3mm cheap and inflexible Plywood, staying up 'till 5am to fix a broken assignment, to crimping 30 empty glass bottles with lab staff raising their eyebrows at you.

All that aside, I am ready to spend the next six weeks remembering how 'bored' and 'relaxed' feel again.   So I to you introduce my party skirt for Winter, full of splits and brightly coloured hot (in-your-face) pink, because I am sick of wearing pants and jeans on rotation. It's got great movement for spinning around endlessly and occasionally showing some leg. But I'll be taking these to the Sunday markets.

Mid-semester break is onnnnn like the break of dawn! I am spending quality time napping away, shopping for my next holiday travels and catching up on what MBFWA was (Christopher Esber killed it, and so did those shoes at Alex Perry).

Spotify has also been a recent obsession - with special mention to the Triple J playlist that has got me hooked on New Zealand goddess Lorde, as well as the acoustic version of Get Low that will change your perspective on that song forever!

This outfit is me in a nutshell at the moment. Slouchy, comfortable and in serious love with black and white more than ever...

BUTTON UP

Ziggy denim crop jacket, Dotti button up shirt, Topshop denim button up shirt, Insight denim shorts (worn under shirt)

So it seems like I've jumped on the whole button bandwagon. It started off with one white shirt...turned into two - and now I'm left with an accumulation of shirts/jackets/jeans/shorts of all sorts of button varieties. Very effective for a worn out uni student running back and forth from school to work in a rush. Mid-semester break please hurry!

Oh, and shoes would be nice too.

HOLDING ON

Topshop grey crop, Quirky Circus floral dress, Sportsgirl silver hand chain, Tony Bianco ankle boots

I'm lapping up the last of the sun and hot Australian weather before the ugly Winter comes. That and the fact that Future Music Festival was practically blasting into my kitchen window the other night, so I am making up for lost festival time with this outfit. Layering up this old spaghetti string floral dress with the a neutral grey crop top was similar to finding a new Tetris combination in my head - 2 in 1. Bam.

For an update on uni, it has sucked all the energy out of me (that and gatecrashing to 'start of session' parties). An equally up/down-side in going to Fashion school, is that instead of throwing on a t-shirt over leggings, I now need extra time in the morning to figure out what to wear without being that overdressed. Because not everyone is that blessed to have Cher Horowitz's wardrobe program....

CROP ME

Grey crop t-shirt, Black/silver geometric print tapered pant - all from Topshop

It seems like every time I try a retail detox - Topshop lures me straight back in with it's little gems amongst a department store sea of clothing. At the moment, I am loving crop top and high waisted anything - in which finding these two pieces, was totally destiny.

KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID

American Apparel Lace Bralette, Agent Ninety-Nine tank, Miss Shop 7/8 jeans, Jeffrey Campbell 'Litas', Oscar Wylee 'Frye' Specs.

Happy Sunday folks! My weekend's been pretty amazing this week. Got the chance to work with a model from eMg on a shoot yesterday morning with Brandon, feasted on sushi and udon noodles for lunch with my boyfriend, and took a drive all the way across the bridge to visit the Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop for dessert last night.

I've been in such a rut with outfits recently, thanks to the monotony of working five days a week. So here is a half an outfit taken from styling the shoot yesterday - a compilation of my love for American Apparel bralette, my trusty Litas and white white white. To further cement my relax-it's-Sunday attitude, I am too lazy to wear my contacts so my Frye's will help distract people from my au naturel face.

RESOLUTION

Kenji shirt, Lee denim shorts, Topshop hat, Miss Shop bikini (worn underneath)

As late as it possibly can be, I've decided that I am determined to go crazy and see what this year takes me in regards to my personal style (aka, my New Years Resolution). I've been reading and reading a handful of books and articles by stylists from around the world and it has really inspired be to figure out who I really am! And so it begins with this outfit post...

Basically, I'm wearing my quintissential Summer uniform - perfect for 38 degree weekend. Light coloured denim is something that I have my eye on accumulating this season, and this leopard print shirt has been a result of many umm-ing and ahh-ing in store. It's now a staple in my wardrobe.

SNIPPET

I'm wearing: St Lenny men's tee, Miss Shop 7/8 jeans, Tony Bianco ankle boots, Topshop backpack, Citizen watch and Le Spec sunnies

I paid a visit today to the CATC Design School at the Rocks to try a hand at styling for my photographer amigo, Brandon. It was such a great experience creating looks from a handful of items, playing around with crazy posing and listening to the cheesy top 40 all at the same time. This all gets me even more anxious to start my degree next year!! Photos will be up in the next post x

HALFMOON MAGIC

Here's the result of an extensive high and low search (minus the bra strap) for a particular item. I went on the hunt for some staple sunnies that would contrast from your average 'black wayfarer' style and it was a success! Le Spec's 'Halfmoon Magic' sunglasses are a gorgeous combination of pink reflective lenses and tan cateye frames. Perfect for the upcoming heatwave that I'm super anxious for for Christmas. Bring on the heat!

LBJ

I'm wearing a David Lawrence top, American Apparel Disco Pants, Topshop Chelsea Boots and a Vintage bag.

Life's been a one whirlwind of a roller coaster lately, so I took a breather and went to see the Little Black Jacket exhibition today with my lovely friend Karina - and needless to say, it's pretty amazing. The location itself was perfect for the exhibition and we most definitely underestimated the amount of people that were part of this project - including the likes of Alexander Wang, Yoko Ono and Alexa Chung.

The best moment was taking home posters, where I really can't stop loving Astrid Berges-Frisbey and Elle Fannings' photo. But there are so many more amazing images (see above images sourced from Google). The exhibition will be on it's last day in Sydney tomorrow and moving to Paris next. Definetely worth spending your free day there!

LAZY LABOUR DAY

...And I'm back! For good, I promise. Life's just been a huge roller coaster for me the past few months. I've left uni, changed jobs, gained an internship, holiday-ed in the Gold Coast and am now planning even more eventful things for the coming months.
I spent Labour day being being as lazy as I could - lasagne, Futurama reruns and lots of dancing to the radio. I can't believe that it's October already! Halloween's just around the corner and Summer's coming for sure...
But anyway, back to work tomorrow, gonna have massive case of Monday-itis on a Tuesday. Hope you guys had a nice breather today x

A sketch made back in November 2011

Handed in my final essay today and I'm feelin' so free! I get to be a wandering creative creature again - painting, drawing, dressing up - and finding my inner Jessa Johansson. I've also been hibernating at home all day, reading about the heroines in Oyster's new issue - starring Hannah Murray, Lena Dunham and Tavi Gevinson. On the top of my current 'To Do' list is to catch on book reading! Hoping to give Stephen King and Steig Larsson a try. It'd be perfect under a sea of blankets and some Milo. Any great book recommendations guys? Hope you all are having a lovely day x

Gary Bigeni SS12/13 MBFW Card and Style Me Romy April Issue

Hey guys! I thought it was time to check in with this blog with an outfit post and an update on what's happening. Lately, I've been doing a myriad of things, including: missing Summer, slowly becoming a gamer girl, getting addicted to Game of Thrones, witnessing my friends'  first tattoos, spotting suede knee-high boots everywhere and basically being your average pub-crawlin', pool playing, burger-eating uni student.

If you haven't heard, MBFWA is all the rage this week! This year was the first year I saw a "proper" fashion show and even be in physical presence at Circular Quay during Fashion Week. Gary Bigeni was amazing - from the faces in the front row (the Vogue team and Tim Blanks, Candice Lake, Bryan Boy, Alex Spencer, etc.) to the beautiful hues of blue in the SS12/13 collection. It was such a great experience, I'm still kicking myself for being there.

Hope you guys are having a great week x
